Good to know after landing
For arrivals from within the Schengen Area without checked baggage, it usually takes 20–30 minutes to leave the terminal. With checked baggage, this is around 45–60 minutes. For flights from outside Schengen, allow 60–75 minutes. With additional border checks, this can take up to 90–120 minutes. Ready earlier than expected? Just send us a message on WhatsApp. From the agreed pickup time, the first 20 minutes of waiting time are included.
Your holiday doesn't start at Schiphol, it starts at home.
An alarm goes off while it's still dark outside. The suitcases are already packed. The kids might still need to wake up, or perhaps you're barely rested yourself. At that moment, there's really only one thing you want: to arrive at Schiphol without any hassle.
Muiderberg has no train station of its own. For many travellers, the holiday therefore doesn't start relaxed, but with rushing: first to the bus stop, then waiting for the train, changing with suitcases, hoping everything runs on time. And if there's a disruption, strike or engineering works, a relaxed departure can suddenly turn into stress.
The car seems like an alternative, until you see the parking costs. What's more, your car then sits unused in a car park for days or weeks while you're on holiday.
A taxi takes all those worries away. The driver arrives at your door at the agreed time, helps with the luggage, and drops you off at the correct departure hall. No searching for a parking space, no changing transport, no crowded trains, and no getting soaked if it rains.
Travelling as a couple or with the family? A taxi often turns out to be less expensive than many people initially think, especially once you factor in the cost of bus, train or parking. And for early morning flights or late-evening arrivals, a taxi is often simply the most relaxed choice.
Let's be honest: the trip to Schiphol isn't the highlight of your holiday. But it does set the tone for how your holiday begins. And that first impression might as well be comfortable.
Muiderberg, where Dutch history was written in 1296.
Muiderberg is a characteristic ribbon village, formed around 1200 on a push moraine at the edge of the former Zuiderzee. The village takes its name from the natural slope along the coast, which erosion once gave a cliff-like character. In the fields of Muiderberg, in 1296, Count Floris V was murdered, one of the most notorious events in Dutch history. Centuries later, the event inspired P.C. Hooft, then magistrate of the nearby Muiderslot castle, to write his famous play Geeraerdt van Velsen.
The village is home to the largest Jewish cemetery in the Netherlands, founded in 1642. Muiderberg is also the birthplace of former minister Piet Lieftinck, known for the legendary "Tientje van Lieftinck" banknote. Just outside the village lies the Muiderberg interchange, where the A1 and A6 motorways meet, spanned by the Zandhazenbrug, the railway bridge with the longest span in the Netherlands, named after the historic nickname of Muiderberg's residents.
With over 3,000 residents, Muiderberg is a quiet village and a popular commuter town for people working in Amsterdam. Because Muiderberg has no station of its own, public transport means relying on bus connections. A taxi from Muiderberg to Schiphol solves that, whatever time your flight is: no timetable, no changing transport, just door to departure hall.
