For arrivals from within the Schengen Area without checked baggage, it usually takes 20–30 minutes to leave the terminal. With checked baggage, this is around 45–60 minutes. For flights from outside Schengen, allow 60–75 minutes. With additional border checks, this can take up to 90–120 minutes. Ready earlier than expected? The train to Schiphol seems logical, until it's cancelled.
In 2025, there were 586 significant disruptions on the Dutch rail network, confirmed by ProRail's annual report, resulting in a €2.75 million fine after the target of 520 was significantly exceeded. Anyone travelling to Schiphol regularly ran into engineering works or delays more than once. And during a disruption, you're not the only one looking for a taxi: suddenly everyone wants one, and none are available.
But even without a disruption, the train journey to Schiphol isn't exactly relaxing. It's early. You've barely slept. The suitcases are heavy. It's raining outside. You haul everything to the station, look for a spot on the platform, stand waiting in the cold, and then the train turns out to be packed. With children in tow, it's a logistical operation before you've even taken a single step towards Schiphol.
A taxi is the opposite. You get up, you get in, you're dropped off at the correct departure hall. Warm, dry, without any hassle. No parking costs, no platforms, no changing transport. The journey itself is tiring enough as it is, so the departure doesn't have to be.
Bussum, from historic ribbon village to the birthplace of Dutch television.
Bussum most likely originated around the year 1000; the name is usually explained as a derivation of "Bosheem," meaning house in the woods. For centuries it fell under the administration of the fortified town of Naarden, until Bussum became an independent municipality in 1817. After the railway arrived in 1874, wealthy Amsterdammers moved to the Gooi village and had distinctive villas built there, especially in the Het Spiegel neighbourhood, one of the oldest villa parks in the Netherlands and a protected village townscape since 2007. Bussum also holds a unique place in media history: on 2 October 1951, the very first official Dutch television broadcast took place here, from Studio Irene.
Since 2016, Bussum has been part of the municipality of Gooise Meren, together with Naarden and Muiden, but its village character, with wooded avenues and a lively centre, has been fully preserved. Its more than 33,000 residents live spread across neighbourhoods such as Het Spiegel, the Vondelkwartier and Bussum-Zuid.
Anyone booking a taxi from Bussum to Schiphol doesn't need to worry about the exact location within the municipality. Whether you live along the avenues of Het Spiegel, in the town centre, or in Bussum-Zuid, we'll pick you up at your door and take you straight to the departure hall. One fixed price, no surprises, regardless of where you depart from in Bussum.
